There are neighborhoods saturated with tourists and more low-key ones, often with a popular history, that try to remain visible amid the abundance of what Bangkok has to offer.
There have been several street art initiatives recently, in and around Chinatown.
Some ideas of discovery.
Ong Ang
Ong Ang offers an event around the pedestrian street of the same name. The advantage here is that the graphs are grouped around the channel over 300m.
The theme is essentially linked to the shops and artisans of the district.
I also advise you to continue your visit to the south of the exhibition. You will discover the small alleys along the canal, with shops and diversity that are illustrated in the graphs you saw just before.
Is sponsored Street Art still Street Art?
The graphs you will see on Ong Ang are not spontaneous. This is a request from local authorities who are trying to revitalize this part of the city.
You will also see there, at nightfall, musicians and obviously a lot of food stands, we are in Thailand!
Beyond the semantic debate, I think that it allows talented artists to show off and get paid at a moment where they definitely need it.
∴ How to get there?
Take the MRT to Sam Yot Station. At the metro exit take directly left for 200m, up to the bridge.
Coulour of Charoenkrung
Another event which offers you graphs along Chaoenkrung road.
The graphs are more scattered so the ride will be longer. Better to discover them during the cooler hours of the day.
∴ How to get there?
Take the BTS to Saphan Taksin.
